Introduction
Gear
Right equipment reduces risk and improves communication. Use this quick guide to choose what matters, fit it correctly, and keep it in good condition.

Essentials For Rider
-
Helmet: ASTM/SEI certified; snug with no wobble; chin strap fits two fingers.
-
Pants & Gloves: seams that don’t rub; grippy palms for light contact.
-
Footwear: short boots + half chaps or tall boots; small heel prevents slipping.
Essentials For Horse
-
Saddle: tree width and panel contact match the horse; use a clean, even pad.
-
Girth & Stirrups: secure but not pinching; stirrup length so knee angle ~100–110°.
-
Bit & Bridle: choose mild, well-fitted hardware; heavier isn’t “better”—clarity is.
